Scottish recipes - Quick and easy mincemeat and apple pie

I have started a new project where I take a photo a day and round them up in a weekly post called 365 a photo a day

My very first photo was a picture of me in my puppy slippers dusting a large mincemeat and apple pie and this photo has prompted me to do this post

A lot of you asked for the recipe for the mincemeat pie

well it was really simple and easy, and did I say delicious?

Here is what I did

you will need

One ready made pie crust (I used a graham cracker crust)
1-2 jars of ready made mincemeat
one apple
some powdered sugar for dusting

(for those who don't know, mincemeat is sweet and sticky and oh so good, made from fruit and peel and not meaty at all)

  • pre-heat the oven to 350F/175C

  • scoop the mincemeat into the pie crust

  • slice your apple into pretty apple shaped slices and place on top

  • bake for 10 minutes to warm up the mincemeat pie

  • let it cool slightly then dust with powdered sugar

Eat and enjoy warm, or enjoy later once cooled (either way is good)

  2. Looks simple and delicious. We only have mincemeat around for a short period of time, but since I made your cookies I try to buy it when I see it.
